Construction

involving commercial and residential construction. He has
represented contractors, engineers, architects, and property
owners.

litigation involving contracts and leases. That
experience includes disputes between partners, landlords and
tenants, insureds and insurance companies, breach of sales
agreements of all types, and disputes involving
sales merchandise and businesses.
Collections—Mr. Skipworth handles commercial
collections in excess of $25,000.
Leases—Mr. Skipworth regularly represents
landlords regarding issues involving the construction of
leases, rent, leasehold space, and many other matters.
Real Estate—Mr. Skipworth has
extensive litigation experience involving eminent domain
(condemnation) cases from large tracts of undeveloped land to

boundaries, encroachments, and adverse possession among
others. Mr. Skipworth also provides property
tax consultation and litigation after the decision of the
appropriate taxing authority.
Deceptive Trade Practices—Many cases involve claims of deceptive
trade practices. A typical case is where a consumer is
told that the product purchased is of good quality and it
turns out to be a lemon. Mr. Skipworth has
defended and prosecuted many such cases. Stock Fraud-Mr. Skipworth handles
cases involving stock fraud, where an investor pays money to a
broker only to find out that the broker did not handle the money as
instructed or took the money. Another situation is where the
investor has been told something in writing that is
false when if the truth had been known, the investor
would not have invested. Mr. Skipworth handles cases
with the NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) and
in court, if possible.
Negligence
and Products Liability
Negligence—This theory
of law is present in many cases over many subjects. Simply
put, negligence is the failure of a person or corporation to do
something it should have done to prevent damage to another person
or corporation. It can be a factor in construction
cases, personal injury cases, stock fraud cases, and many others.
Mr. Skipworth has more than 30 years of
experience handling cases involving negligence.
Personal Injury—When a person is injured by someone
because of the other person's negligence, the injured person may
sue for the damages he/she has sustained. This occurs in auto
accidents, medical malpractice cases, and many other situations.
Mr. Skipworth has much experience handling
personal injury cases for truck drivers, auto accident victims, and
similarly situated people.
Products Liability—This is a version of personal injury law and
occurs when someone is injured by a product because the product is
improperly designed, marketed, or manufactured. Mr.
Skipworth has handled many such cases to
conclusion. |
